Wilderness Focus - Dates to be determined
The wilderness surrounding the City of Ithaca is vast and so near. We will take a short city bus ride to the Town of Danby to begin our two-day exploration back to Ithaca and hopefully to a rejeuvenated consciousness of our surroundings.

The first day will be spent exploring the headwaters of Buttermilk Creek and the Danby State Forest at a leisurely pace. We will taste some local and wild foods as well as poetry and art connected to this place and to the spirit of wilderness. We will spend the night at a rustic campsite and start off early the next morning for a challenging trek along the Finger Lakes Trail back to Ithaca. What lives in these forests? Is there really such a thing as wilderness? What influence does it have on our lives?

As Place Odyssey and the Art of Walking is a relatively new experiment and organized by only one little person, please have patience as the minute details of trips flesh themselves out in the months and weeks before the date of departure.  The more people who sign up early, the more details can be known in advance.  Every effort is made to create inspiring itineraries. Pleasant surprises that can't be known months in advance are part of the great adventure.  You'll notice that costs decrease with increasing numbers of participants (though groups are never huge)...so tell all of your friends about us too!

Learn more about our trips or sign up for one today by contacting the main trip leader at place.odyssey@gmail.com or (607) 279-7509.

If you're arriving from out of town for a Place Odyssey adventure, we are more than happy to help you figure out the additional logistics.
